OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Our Guiding Principles serve as a compass both individually and organizationally. They are the application of our core beliefs that help to shape and direct our work. We approach all we do and every decision we make with the Guiding Principles in mind. These principles include:

  • EMPOWERMENT: We believe in empowering survivors to reclaim their lives and voices.
  • COMPASSION: We approach each individual with empathy and understanding.
  • ADVOCACY: They can influence policy and advocate with the appropriate tools and resources to create positive changes for current and future generations.
  • EDUCATION: We strive to educate the community about the realities of abuse and the importance of prevention and support.
  • COLLABORATION: We work together with other organizations, survivors, and allies to create lasting change.

If you are looking for ways to get involved or need resources related to their mission, we are here to assist. Whether finding information as a survivor on how to become a policy advocate, exploring ways to support survivors, or learning more about policy initiatives, we can delve into it together.

Our Founder - Gail Gardner

Chief Executive Officer Advocacy and Policy

Bringing the lived experience of a survivor of sexual violence, CEO Gail Gardner handles daily operations and strategic direction, and ensures goals are met. The CEO also oversees advocacy and policy relating to sexual violence on local, state, and national levels collaborating with other organizations, and survivors.

Ms. Gardner, a long-time advocate for victims of random or familial sexual assaults, is the namesake of Florida’s Gail’s Law. This law mandates the tracking of rape kits via a database to keep victims informed about the status of their case evidence throughout the testing process. In 2019, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida successfully cleared a backlog of 13,432 unprocessed rape kits. State law now requires that these kits be submitted for testing within 30 days and processed by laboratories within 120 days.

Ms. Gardner has championed social justice for survivors of sexual violence who face barriers to committee leadership roles due to addiction or legal issues.

President of Board of Directors - Alisha Taylor
